Help shape and improve local mental health services

North Central London Experts by Experience Board for mental health is looking for new members.

Experts by Experience Board members are mental health service users or carers who have lived experience of accessing and using mental health services in our local area. They are residents of one of the five boroughs in North Central London – Enfield, Haringey, Barnet, Camden and Islington.

If you have lived experience of accessing and using mental health services, and would like to work with others to shape and improve these services, please consider applying to join the Experts by Experience Board in North Central London.

Commissioners and providers of mental health services are genuinely committed to co-production “nothing about us, without us”. This means they want mental health service users and carers to have a real voice and a key role in shaping mental health services of the future.

During the last year, Experts by Experience Board members have been involved in providing feedback direct to the Mental Health Chief Executives Group, sharing their experiences of the impact of Coronavirus and lockdown on mental health service users and mental health services.

You will be given all the necessary support and information you need to contribute to meetings fully and in a meaningful way.

Time Commitment

The Experts by Experience Board members meets once a month for two hours. This is the main time commitment. There is no requirement to attend all meetings as they fully understand the need to be flexible.

All meetings are currently held on Zoom or Teams, but in-person meetings will start again when it is safe to do so. Most meetings are held on weekdays during the day (between Monday and Friday, and within the hours of 9am to 5pm).

Remuneration (Payment)

Experts by Experience Board members will be paid £12.50 an hour when they attend meetings. Travel expenses (when in-person meetings resume) will also be paid.
