Enter & View

Healthwatch Enfield has the authority to carry out Enter & View visits in health and social care premises to observe the nature and quality of services. This is set out in Section 225 of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007.

Enter & View is part of our wider duty to find out what people’s experiences of local health and social care services are, and use our influence to bring about improvements in those services. We can hold local providers to account by reporting on services and making recommendations.

Joint Mental Health Enter & View visits with other local Healthwatch

The Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust (BEHMHT) serves the residents of all three boroughs, and residents from one borough may sometimes receive services in one of the other boroughs. For example, a resident of one borough may be admitted to an acute adult mental health ward in one of the other boroughs, if a bed is not available in their home borough, and all the BEHMHT mental health wards for elderly patients are at Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield.

For this reason, Healthwatch Barnet, Healthwatch Enfield and Healthwatch Haringey have been working together to undertake joint Enter & View visits to some of the BEHMHT mental health wards. Healthwatch Barnet and Healthwatch Enfield have carried out joint visits to the Oaks Ward and Suffolk Ward at Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield, and Healthwatch Enfield and Healthwatch Haringey have carried out a joint visit to Downhills Ward at St Ann’s Hospital in Tottenham. Reports of these visits will be published on all three local Healthwatch websites.
